911 degrees to be conferred by UAS-Dharwad
A total of 601 graduates and 247 postgraduates will receive various degrees and 63 will be awarded doctorates at the 34th annual convocation of the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad, to be held on Monday.
At the convocation to be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Farmers’ Knowledge Center, UAS, Dharwad, Founder and CEO of SELCO India Harish Hande will deliver the keynote speech. The Governor of Karnataka and Chancellor of Thaawarchand Gehlot University will preside over the convocation ceremony while Agriculture Minister BC Patil will be present.
According to a press release issued on Saturday by UAS Vice Chancellor Dhawrad, MB Chetti, 911 candidates, including 63 student researchers, 247 doctoral students and 601 graduates, would be awarded diplomas during the graduation ceremony.
53 gold medals
Apart from that, 53 gold medals and nine cash prizes would be awarded to deserving students.
According to the publication, of the 601 graduates, 406 applicants will receive a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, 63 in agricultural marketing and cooperation, 62 in forestry, 39 in home sciences and 31 in BTech (food technology).
Of the 247 postgraduate students, 208 would get MSc (Agriculture), four MBA (Agri Business), eight MSc (Forestry), 22 MHSc (Home Sciences), five would get MSc (Food Technology). Of these, 198 candidates will receive their masters in person.
Of the 63 student researchers, 56 will receive their doctorate in person, the statement said.
