Book Nominations Wanted for University of Idaho 2022-2023 Common Read
MOSCOW, Idaho – January 6, 2022 – Applications are open for the University of Idaho’s Common Read 2022-2023 program, an annual program designed to engage freshmen, faculty, and the community in unified intellectual activity.
The Common Read Committee seeks nominations for books, regardless of genre, that promote engagement on a topic relevant to the university community, especially freshmen. Submissions should be emailed by Monday, January 31 to Dean Panttaja, Director of General Education and Chairman of the Common Read Committee.
“We’re looking for books that open up our ways of thinking and seeing,” Panttaja said. “We are looking for books that challenge our knowledge and our thought processes. We are looking for books that will increase our knowledge and understanding.
Applications should address academic learning outcomes and provide an opportunity to inspire students to take ownership of their educational experience critically and creatively, explore diverse perspectives, and discover content that fosters sustained discussion.
Past joint readings have included works of fiction, history, race and culture, economics and the environment. More information on Common Reading, including past selections, is available at uidaho.edu/common-read.
