Cotter Welch, who is improving quickly, will attend Butler University
NEW COMMITMENT: Butler University has added a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond Cotter Welch of Northville, Michigan.
She will join Alani hightower and Caroline Colombo as a member of the Bulldogs of 2025 class.
She said Swimming world:
“I am extremely grateful to announce my commitment to study and swim at Butler University. When I entered campus, I realized Butler was the place for me. Their excellent athletic and academic programs will help me achieve all of my goals for the future. I want to thank my family, the doctors, the coaches and everyone who helped me get to this point and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me. Go Bulldogs !!! “
Welch swims his club with Novi Sturgeons and recently won three best times at the Indianapolis Sectionals. Early last year, she discovered she was severely anemic but was able to recover from quarantine. In just one season, she lost six seconds in the 200 freestyle and 12 in the 500 freestyle.
His best moments include:
- 200 free – 1: 57.86
- 500 free – 5: 14.82
- 100 back – 1: 00.57
- 200 backstroke – 2: 13.87
Welch is currently a senior at Mercy Catholic High School where she is a team captain. She placed 12th in the 500 freestyle and 16th in the 500 freestyle at the Michigan DI State Championships in 2021 after winning third and seventh respectively in those events at the Oakland County Championships.
