Fauci receives honorary degree from Bowdoin College
Dr.Anthony Fauci, the U.S. government’s foremost infectious disease expert who rose to fame during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 after confronting then-President Donald Trump over policy and practice COVID, received an honorary degree at the opening of Bowdoin College on Saturday.
Fauci, who is now President Biden’s chief medical adviser, was not personally present but received the honor via live video.
Saturday’s ceremonies were held in person after what college president Clayton Rose called a landmark year that saw the college implement new policies to ensure social distancing and the masking of demands to mitigate the spread of disease on campus. “If we’ve learned anything from the past year, it’s how much it matters,” Rose said in remarks to graduates, referring to the celebration in which nearly 470 degrees were awarded. “How essential.”
