Flag lowering for Phouvong Mychackavane | News

The UN flag will be lowered on Monday, May 9, in memory of Phouvong Mychackavane, a UN retiree who died on April 14, 2022, at the age of 74.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered on Monday, May 9, in memory of UN retiree Phouvong “Phou” Mychackavane.
Phou died on April 14, 2022, at the age of 64. He started at the UN in August 1983 and continued until his retirement in October 2015. While at the UN, Phou worked as a duty officer.
Phou was predeceased by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Meuang Mychackavane; the children Khaimouk (Alejandro) Zamora, Win (Jennifer) Mychackavane and Johnny Mychackavane; grandchildren Cassandra, Christian, Giovianni, Donavan, Daniel, Carmyne, Vanessa, Antonyo and Gya; and nieces, nephews and other family members.
A service was held for Phou on April 23, 2022.
The thoughts and condolences of the university community go out to Phou’s loved ones during this time.
