Gunman searched for downed man, killed near McDonald’s University Heights – NBC 7 San Diego
Homicide detectives are at the scene of a deadly Wednesday morning shooting that was reported near a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in University Heights.
The shooting was reported around 2:45 a.m. at a McDonald’s near the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and Texas Street when a man in a car was shot and killed. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the victim suffered from at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.
First responders provided CPR before the victim was rushed to an area hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries, the San Diego Police Department said.
The employees were at the fast food site as it is a 24 hour operation, but it is not known if they heard or saw anything about the violence.
Authorities did not release the name of the deceased, but said he was a 59-year-old man. The SDPD said the victim was in the area to meet someone, believing the circumstances of that meeting were unclear.
The shooter was described as a male in his thirties who was about 6 feet tall. He was dressed in all white clothes and took off in a white SUV, according to Tony Martinez, an officer with the San Diego Police Department. A search for the shooter is in progress.
Details of what led to the filming were not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
