Humes breaks the perfect weekend, Kentucky sweeps Texas A&M
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Fifth-grade pitcher Autumn Humes finished a perfect weekend in the circle for the No.17 Kentucky on Sunday afternoon, as she pitched the Wildcats to a 5-1 win over Texas A&M to secure a road sweep for the Aggies in of a beautiful day at Davis Diamond.
Humes went the distance, pitching a full play of seven innings, allowing just a run on three hits with six strikeouts and a walk. For the weekend, Humes led 3-0 in the circle, winning the winning decision in all three games, allowing just two runs in 15.2 innings of work and striking out 20 batters.
At home plate, Humes hit .500 on the weekend and was 2-for-3 on Sunday, including his first career triple, scoring on an RBI single by Grace Baalman in the second inning for the first inning of the UK match.
Southeastern Conference Player of the Year Candidate Kayla kowalik went 2-for-3 on Sunday with a pair of singles and a walk, while also scoring a run. Kowalik continues to have an unreal batting average of .518 this season, leading the NCAA and SEC.
With Sunday’s result, Kentucky improves to 35-12 on the year and 10-11 in the SEC. Texas A&M drops to 31-17 in aggregate and 8-13 in the conference game.
Kentucky will return home to John Cropp Stadium for the final series of the season Friday, Saturday and Sunday against the South Carolina Gamecocks. All three matches have tickets available from the UK Athletics Ticket Office and all three matches will be broadcast live on SEC Network +, ESPN3 and the ESPN app.

Autumn Humes also played a key role in Sunday’s game, as she won the game 2 for 3 at home plate and won the game in the circle.
The key game of the game was Erin Coffel’s first single at the start of the sixth round. Vanessa Nesby pinch ran for Coffel and scored on three wild shots to mark the fourth inning of the game for Kentucky.
