MBB: Hofstra mourns the passing of Stan Einbender

Hempstead, NY – Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra University Department of Athletics mourns the passing of former men’s basketball student-athlete Stan Einbender.
Einbender graduated from Hofstra in 1960 and was a member of the men’s basketball team.
Einbender averaged 8.2 points and a team-best 11.2 rebounds on the incredible 1959-60 team. Coached by the legendary Butch van Breda Kolff, the 1959-60 men’s basketball team posted a 23-1 record and boasts the best winning percentage in school history at .958. The team’s only loss that season was a two-point loss to Wagner (50-48). consecutive games to close the season. The team was inducted into the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
Einbender appeared in 47 games during his career for Hofstra, totaling 438 points and 500 rebounds. He also averaged a double-double in the 1957-58 season with 10.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per outing.
Einbender would attain captaincy in the United States Army upon graduation and also continued his education in dental school. Einbender is survived by his wife, Roberta, and their two children, Harry and Margaret.
