MXC: Silveri ahead of Hofstra on Saint-Pierre
Hempstead, NY – For the second time this season, a first-year runner from the Hofstra men’s cross country team placed first in a competitive race. This time it was Michel Silveri paving the way for the pride of the intramural fields of Hofstra during a double meeting on Saturday morning with Saint-Pierre.
Hofstra placed four runners in the top five, easily beating Saint-Pierre in the team score with 16 points for pride against 39 points for the Peacocks.
Hailing from Manorville, New York, Silveri crossed the finish line in a time of 16: 19.9 in the heat on Saturday morning. He was followed closely by another freshman Michel research, who timed at 16: 27.6. Finishing third was a freshman Zach Van Houten, who ran a time of 16: 54.3 in the 5K race, and in grade two Aiden Willey broke the tape at 17: 07.7 to take fourth place. André Giovinazzo was sixth for pride, clocking a time of 17: 25.2 in the race.
Michael Conover was the best-placed Saint Peter rider of the day, taking fifth place in a time of 17: 15.3 for the Peacocks.
The pride will again take place at the Paul Run Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University, on October 1 from Bethlehem, PA.
