Practical nursing degrees are in demand; learn more about Penn College offerings | Education

Wellsboro, Pennsylvania – Licensed practical nurses are always in demand, with roles in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, personal care facilities and social service organizations needing to be filled. Those interested in studying practical nursing are invited to one of the information sessions hosted by Penn College in Wellsboro in April.
The first session will take place on Wednesday April 13 at 6:30 p.m. and the second will take place on Thursday April 28 at 6:30 p.m. Both sessions will take place at the Wellsboro campus of the Pennsylvania College of Technology, 22 Walnut Street. . Sessions will also be streamed live from the Potter County Education Council building at 5 Water Street, Coudersport.
Lauren M. Scheetz, Program Coordinator, will discuss admissions requirements, application processes, tuition and financial aid, obtaining licensure, and job opportunities for graduates . It will be possible to ask questions after the presentation.
The next practical nursing course is scheduled to start on August 1, 2022; graduation will take place on August 1, 2023.
The Essential Academic Skills test with a minimum passing score is required for entry into the program. Before taking the TEAS, an application must be submitted to the Wellsboro office. Completed application materials and entry prerequisites must be submitted by July 18 to be considered for admission to the August class.
Coursework in the 12-month, full-time practical nursing program takes place at Penn College’s Wellsboro campus, with clinical experiences at UPMC Wellsboro, Green Home, and Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center, as well as in other local facilities.
The practical nursing program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Those who complete the program will be prepared to take the National Board licensing exam for licensure as an LPN. Educational opportunities for advancement to registered nurse are available.
This is an hourly program, eligible for Federal Pell Grants and Federal Direct Student Loans, designed specifically by Workforce Development at Penn College in Williamsport.
