STAY MWV Accepts Student Loan Assistance Applications | News from local businesses
CONWAY – The local organization STAY MWV (Supporting The Active Young Professionals of the Mt. Washington Valley) has opened the application period for its annual student loan assistance program.
STAY MWV is a group of committed young professionals in the Mount Washington Valley who work together to help make the valley a home for young people.
Their mission is “to attract and retain a dynamic young professional population in the Mount Washington Valley”.
In an effort to combat the effects of the student loan crisis on rural communities, the Student Loan Assistance Program is helping valley residents repay their student loans. Similar to a scholarship awarded to high school students upon entering college, the program helps young people who live and work in the valley after college.
Working with community partners, STAY MWV has raised over $ 65,000 in student loan repayment funds. These dollars are a direct injection of funds into the local economy – helping beneficiaries free up their budgets for down payments on houses, for example.
In 2021, STAY MWV hopes to raise and disperse $ 20,000 in student loan assistance. In the Mount Washington Valley, young people have been particularly affected by the uncertainty the pandemic has brought to work, and childcare and support for the region’s youth has become more important than ever.
Applications can be found and donations for this work can be made at staymwv.com.
The deadline for submitting the assistance request is Tuesday June 1st. For more information, email [email protected]
