These Colleges in Maryland Offer the Best Online Degrees in 2022

MARYLAND — Nearly two years into the coronavirus pandemic, current and prospective students in Maryland are still turning to online schools and programs to earn their degrees from the safety of their homes.
To help students decide on their post-secondary plans, US News & World Report on Tuesday released its annual list recognizing certain schools and degree programs in Maryland that have been specifically designed to be earned online.
Ten colleges and universities in Maryland earned a spot on the 2022 list of top online programs, released Tuesday by US News.
Overall, the ranking evaluated more than 1,700 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.
“The uncertainty caused by the pandemic may lead more people to consider the merits of an online education,” Liana Loewus, senior education editor at US News, said in a press release. “As students consider what’s right for them and their schedule, they can use the data provided by US News to research their options and make informed decisions about their academic future.”
This year’s ranking did not take into account schools or programs that temporarily went online due to the pandemic, according to a US News statement. The list also does not include blended learning programs that combine lessons in physical classrooms with online education.
To determine which schools and programs made this year’s list, US News looked at overall academic quality across various disciplines. In addition to online bachelor’s degrees, US News has ranked master’s programs in business, education, nursing, engineering, computer science, and criminal justice. Online MBA programs have been separated from other business degrees and ranked separately.
Methodologies for determining the best programs varied by specialty. Learn more about the methodologies used at USNews.com.
