Three Nittany Lions Win All Northeast Region Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania – Penn State Men’s Golf Student-Athletes jimmy meyer, Lou Olsakovski and Patrick Sheehan have been named to the Division I All-Northeast Region team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Sunday morning.

The GCAA annually recognizes NCAA Division I collegiate players in six regions – Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West. Penn State and Seton Hall are tied for the most All-Northeast Region team winners with three selections.

Olsakovsky wins all-region honors for the second season in a row. The grad student capped off his distinguished career at Penn State by qualifying as an individual for the NCAA Regional Championships. Olsakovsky ranked second on the team this season with an average of 72.08 shots. He had six top-15 finishes in his final season in the Blue & Whites, including two top-10 finishes.

Sheehan is collecting all-region honors for the first time in his career after a stellar junior season. Sheehan also competed in the NCAA Regional Championships as an individual and earned second-team All-Big Ten honors. The Doylestown, Pennsylvania native led the Nittany Lions with a 70.94 hitting average and had six top 10s and eight top 15s throughout the 2021-22 season.

Meyers also wins all-region honors for the first time in his career. He had a strong junior season in which he averaged 73.53 over 30 rounds. Meyers had a top 5 and a pair of top 10s throughout his junior season.

With three GCAA accolades in 2021-22, a total of 89 Nittany Lions have been recognized as All Northeast Region selections since 1992-93. For the eighth straight year, Penn State had the most winners in the region. The Northeast region, which covers the geographic area from Maine to Washington, D.C., includes more than 50 NCAA Division I programs and has the most schools of any region.
