Jeffery Jackson II, a grade 11 student at Solid Foundation Christian Academy (SFCA), is expected to earn an Associate’s degree in General Studies from Georgia Military College’s Stone Mountain Campus on June 12 before he graduates from secondary studies.
This incredible accomplishment is due to the SFCA’s Dual Enrollment Program, a partnership with Georgia Military College’s downtown Stone Mountain campus, which allows qualified high school students to freely take college courses.
âMy mission is to help other families harness the potential of the program, as it not only gives students a professional boost in their life journey, but also saves significant amounts of money by completing their studies. studies faster, âsaid Dr. Leslie Pledger, Founder of the SFCA. âWe have helped many students successfully complete the dual enrollment program and earn a high school diploma and associate degree.
A school that promotes itself as a Christian alternative to public schooling, SFCA’s mission is to educate, exhibit and create a well-rounded child from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The core values ââof SFCA are understood.
Through their dual enrollment program, they seek to serve students by helping them earn college credit while in high school.
The underutilized program allows students to accumulate high school and college credits. As such, the SFCA administration shares the opportunity with parents of independent learners in hopes of increasing the rate of Atlanta-area students graduating from higher education faster. and with less student loan debt.
A growing number of students have been taking advantage of similar programs involving community college classes for the past 15 years.
The existence of the program has helped shed light on and respond to well-known national concerns about the affordability of colleges, increasing access to colleges for thousands of Georgian students.
Students like Jeffery Jackson now have the opportunity to reduce their overall college expenses by starting with a boost with an associate’s degree under their belt.
With tuition on an upward trend, the dual enrollment program is a way to relieve financial pressure from parents. Being able to afford a post-secondary education is a struggle that deeply worries many families today.
For parents of current students who are unable to participate in the dual enrollment program at their current high school, Solid Foundation staff conduct interviews to match qualified students with available places.
