UAHT and eVersity join forces to offer a new IT license
HOPE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas-Hope / Texarkana has partnered with eVersity, the University of Arkansas’ online college, to offer an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science Transition Program in Technology information at the UAHT at the bachelor’s degree in information science. Technology diploma at eVersity.
Students can take their first two years of classes at UAHT and upgrade to eVersity to complete their bachelor’s degree.
An information technology degree prepares students for a career as a computer programmer, information security analyst, and / or computer systems analyst. The employment of information security analysts is expected to increase by 31% by 2029.
âThis has been in the works for probably the last six months,â said Brittni Hardie, UAHT information technology instructor. “We knew we wanted to expand the program, but it was just a matter of we did it, given that we only offer the two-year degree.”
Hardie, who has been in IT for seven years now, went to UAHT Acting Chancellor Laura Clark to see what needs to happen to deliver this program. They then decided to partner with eVersity to make it happen.
“I actually got my IT degree from the University of the University of eVersity University, so I took the program, I know how it is and I know all the obstacles that a student can meet, âshe said. âSo we thought it would be a really good idea to have an instructor to help the students go through the program, who actually went through it themselves. “
Hardie said IT is an area where there is a constant need for employees due to the widespread use of technology in the vast majority of businesses nationwide.
âI always kind of knew there was a need because every business is going to have an IT department,â she said. âIf you’re trying to get a computer science degree, there are a lot of different avenues you can take. So the computer science degree we’re going to offer is going to give them a basic level in programming, administration, design, etc., so that they can kind of get their feet in the water with all the different specters and decide which route they want to take. â
UAHT also offers Coding Proficiency Certificate and Information Technology Technical Certificate.
