University of Alabama sorority rushes to be both in-person and virtual this fall
The University of Alabama Pan-Hellenic Association is recruiting using a hybrid approach, with a few days in person and others virtual, according to a post on the association’s Instagram on May 26.
“This set of guidelines prioritizes the health and safety of potential new members, active members, advisers, volunteers and staff of the AU, while allowing the Pan-Hellenic community to have an experience of recruitment, ”the post read.
Fall recruiting is scheduled for August 7-15, with application day on the last day. According to the UA Panhellenic Association, dates are subject to change due to COVID-19.
The first round of recruitment will be virtual for each potential new member, and the rest will be done in person. Any potential new member who feels uncomfortable participating in person or who is in quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19 may choose to participate in virtually all rounds, according to the association’s Instagram.

Offers will be emailed out this year as they were in Fall 2020, and students who receive an offer will have the opportunity to visit their respective Chapter Hall.
The AU Pan-Hellenic Association is once again calling for families not to participate in Bid Day activities, according to their website. No guests or alumni will be allowed in the sorority facilities.
Potential new members vaccinated will not be required to wear masks during in-person recruitment rounds, per recent University of Alabama policy. A physical distance of at least 3 feet will be required.
